Is Microsoft murdering the freedom to use other softwares/hardwares?

September 28, 2011 at 12:48 pm

Changing the BIOS to Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), the new type of boot environment and using Microsoft softwares by purchasing from them only advertising of the sandbox model installation, should not deprive Microsoft’s users freedom of using other softwares expending the name of so called Metro version of windows 8 OS and the sandbox model will be only available on the Metro version of windows 8 OS.
The Microsoft spokesmen and their representatives said that Microsoft is launching Windows 8 in two different versions, the Desktop one and the Metro one. The Metro based OS is very strict when it comes to security. What does Microsoft mean by saying Windows 8 goes Metro and at what cost?
Will the present environment of Desktop continue having the features as designed by Microsoft in their Desktop version? Windows Security Essential is the best free and effective anti-virus. What is the big reason incorporating all anti-virus features in their Firewall. The desktop version is the familiar version that we are well aware.

Win-8 has Facebook as a social network site. An Australian technologist has claimed that Facebook can track the web pages you visit, even when you are logged out of the social networking giant. He further says that any time you visit a web page with a Facebook button or widget, your browser is still sending personally identifiable information back to Facebook. Cubrilovic wrote in a blog post "Even if you are logged out, Facebook still knows and can track every page you visit,".
I being a Microsoft user like 99% other Microsoft users in India, certainly would bother if Windows 8 Destroy the Antivirus Market in the name hardened Firewall and for that matter any other software market. All users of windows will be deprived of using other softwares until purchased through Windows App Store and left to purchase only those hardwares as recognized by Microsoft.

I experienced Windows-8 Developer Preview which didn’t commensurate to what Microsoft representatives are telling. My horrible experience was that my Google, Yahoo, and all utility programs I have purchased, from Ashamoo, IObit, even Adobe utilities, etc., everything had vanished till when I was on Windows-8 Developer Preview: no Plugins? Even I sent some data to my portable Seagate hard disk din’t store there; thank God my other data on the attached hard drive didn’t vanish. I can be considered inexperienced but what about the opinion of computer geeks.
Granting cognizance to Mr. Garrett, who wrote “A hardware vendor cannot run their hardware inside the EFI environment unless their drivers are signed with a key that's included in the system firmware," "If you install a new graphics card that either has unsigned drivers, or drivers that are signed with a key that's not in your system firmware, you'll get no graphics support in the firmware."

Garrett further wrote "The truth is that Microsoft's move removes control from the end user and places it in the hands of Microsoft and the hardware vendors, that it makes it more difficult to run anything other than Windows and that UEFI secure boot is a valuable and worthwhile feature that Microsoft are misusing to gain tighter control over the market."

Julian Assenge in his opinion says nothing is secret when you’re connected to internet. And still we depend on internet and will continue using best source of internet yes use best available Anti-virus to protect from bad guys and buy best operative system to work on with varied type of softwares/programs/applications we like or find useful to us.
It’s expected many hardware/software firms would be listed with Microsoft to become eligible as Firmware companies & would be in Microsoft’s UEFI but till then.
 END result view is,
1. Win-8, likely to released middle next year, as shown in developer preview, is not mellowed for end users like me
2.. Why such words like FREE download and get the first look, first look has been horrifying.
3. I would be analysis more valuable advice from professionals / knowledgeable persons and till the Win-8 not considered as good as Win-7
